Nikki Berti, President & Executive Director
Co-Founder, Goodie Two Shoes Foundation

In 2003, Nikki and Tony Berti, co-founded the Goodie Two Shoes Giveaway, a one-day event to provide disadvantaged children with new shoes. They patterned their Giveaway after a similar but much simpler event they volunteered for annually during Tony's playing days with the NFL's San Diego Chargers. (1995-1998) Upon Tony's retirement from the NFL in 2001, they brought the concept home to Las Vegas.
Their Goodie Two Shoes Giveaway garnered tremendous community support and experienced significant growth during the event's first four years. From providing new shoes and backpacks to 225 disadvantaged children from a single Las Vegas Boys & Girls Club in its inaugural year to outfitting over 1500 disadvantaged children from more than a dozen Southern Nevada Boys & Girls Clubs with new shoes, socks, backpacks, school supplies, lunch and more during the annual one-day, fun-filled event held every October on Make A Difference Day, the Giveaway continues to excite, inspire and assist.
In 2007, the Goodie Two Shoes Giveaway officially grew into the Goodie Two Shoes Foundation. The nonprofit 501(c)3 designation allowed GTSF to expand the Giveaway's mission and set goals of partnering with not only the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada but also with various other organizations assisting and serving children in need. While providing shoes and socks remains GTSF's primary focus, the Foundation has already expanded the annual October Giveaway program to include backpacks, school supplies, shoe laces, toothbrushes, toothpaste and more. In addition, GTSF has added additional Giveaway events and Outreaches to its programming to provide even more disadvantaged children and children in crisis with new shoes and socks as well as other items deemed essential for good health and positive development.
In the short-term, GTSF's Giveaway and Outreach Programs provide simple necessities in a fun and exciting atmosphere. But long after the recipients outgrow or wear out their Goodie Two Shoes of choice, we hope they remember their experience, the one-on-one interaction with a caring community volunteer and the feeling of knowing they are part of a community that cares.

Justin Blau & other Students from Meadows School

Topic:  Microbank they established.

Meadows is the first high school in the United States to establish a microbank of this size and scope.

The students created it to assist poor women in Latin America.

Life at Meadows School

The Meadows is Nevada's only pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade college preparatory school which is non-religious and nonprofit. It is also the only school in the state which places 100 percent of its graduates in four-year accredited colleges and universities.

The Meadows School strives to develop in its students a love of, and respect for, learning--inspiring them to seek knowledge independently and prepare them for higher academic pursuits. The School maintains high standards, recognizing and attending to the various needs of its students while providing optimum intellectual, emotional, social, and physical challenge and development.

The School seeks to instill in its students the concept that education carries with it an obligation to self, family, and community, encouraging each student to become a compassionate and productive member of society.

Exposure to multiple experiences remains a primary focus of the School's program. Each student is given liberal opportunities to participate in a full range of activities in an exceptionally nurturing, intentionally small, learning environment. The Meadows School maintains the highest academic, moral, and social standards which are sustained in the School's commitment to excellence in all aspects of student life.

Serving academically able and ambitious students, The Meadows is committed to enrolling a diverse family who share daily life in a healthy, integrated, multi-racial, multi-cultural, and socio-economically mixed experience. Interpersonal and close relationships among and between students and faculty are fostered to create a tightly knit, happy experience.

Opened in 1984 to be a model of the very reputable, traditional and classic east coast educational "college prep" schools of the 1940's, 1950's, and 1960's, The Meadows has filled a need in the Las Vegas educational arena that sets it apart from other programs and schools. The School has earned a reputation for excellence and has become recognized not only in the United States but abroad as well.
